Biography
Dr. Zhang received a DMD from West China University of Medical Sciences (Sichuan University) (1992). He also received a PhD in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Prosthodontics, both from the University of Connecticut (2002). He has had post-doctoral research training in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut (2002). He became a board certified Prosthodontist (American Board of Prosthodontics) in 2009.
Research Interest
Dr. Zhang’s research focuses primarily on dental implantology and tooth regeneration. His research is funded by both the NIH and private industry. Some of his previous and current research projects include the responses of osteoblasts to dental implant surface (osseointegration), the regulation mechanisms in tooth development and regeneration, as well as critical oral mineralized tissue diseases such as bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ)
